Some people need a hand with everyday tasks. Others are ready for a simpler place to live. We start by understanding the person and what would make their day easier.
Small by design
American Golden Care is a licensed adult foster care home. In Michigan, that means a small, state-licensed house where adults who should not live alone get a room, meals, personal care, and someone nearby day and night.
We offer assisted living and independent living in a residential setting. Staff are on site 24 hours a day. We help with bathing, dressing, toileting, getting around, and meals, while respecting the routines each person brings with them.
Before a move, we talk with your family about the help needed and whether we can provide it here. Memory loss by itself is fine; read more on our memory loss care page. Rooms start at $3,500 a month; see cost and ways to pay.
Talk through a visit
Meals and nutrition
Meals are home-cooked, with each resident’s medical history and dietary needs in mind. We talk through food preferences and special diets with your family.
Help at mealtimes is part of everyday care, alongside encouragement to keep doing the things a resident can do for themselves.
Personal routines
Laundry is done regularly, folded, and put away in each resident’s closet.
Help with dressing, bathing, and other personal tasks is offered with attention to the person’s comfort and dignity.
The home helps book doctor appointments and provides transportation in its van, including trips to dialysis. We help fill prescriptions and arrange pharmacy delivery, including around-the-clock pharmacy delivery when needed.
Registered nurses are available for wound care and other nursing needs. We talk through the support each person needs before a move.
Residents can attend religious services of their choice. Transportation and help attending are provided at no additional charge. Music, games, and exercise are also part of caring for the whole person.
